Another year school has started and you have yet to get organized for another academic year. Don’t fret here are some quick tips to start your school year off right.
1. Schedule
Getting organized for school is easy, step one is to print out your class schedule. Print multiple copies putting one in your daily organizer, in your binders, and backpack. Any place you may need one so you don’t get lost for class and in trouble with your teacher because you forgot what classroom you were in or were 10 minutes late. Another great tip to get organized for your school year is write all of your assignments from your class syllabus into your planner ahead of time so you never miss an assignment or deadline.
2. School Map
The first week of school especially takes getting used to, so get organized by printing out a school map to make it easier to find your new classrooms. Keep this handy on your binder along with your class schedule so you never will be late or get lost for a class. Another great way to be organized with your classrooms is to do a test run before hand, walk around campus and find where your classrooms are as well as bathrooms and places for food.
3. Organize your Backpack
Get your backpack organized before the beginning of school. Make sure you have all the equipment you need for the day including; pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, binders, and books neatly organized and easily accessible in your bag. You don’t want to be unprepared for class or rummaging through your bag because you can’t find a pen.
4. Computer
If you bring your computer to school be sure to bring your charger. This may seem like a no-brainer but many students end up being screwed over because their computer ran out of juice. Also be sure to invest in a laptop sleeve or protector so if you drop your bag your computer won’t be in danger.
5. Books
Having your books the first week of classes is necessary as many teachers will already have assignments. Make sure to check your book requirements before the beginning of the school semester and allow ample time to order. Many school bookstores will have book pickups the first week of school making it easier on students but it can be costly. Other alternatives such as Amazon and Chegg are great alternatives but may take longer to get to you, so plan accordingly otherwise you may be waiting weeks for a textbook and miss important assignments.
6. Crashing Classes
Many students can’t get their required classes on their schedule right away and need to crash classes. If you are doing so be sure to get to the classroom early enough to get a seat as it is usually first come, first serve basis. So get organized and plan accordingly to get your ideal school year schedule.
These 6 steps to get you organized for school will help ensure you a great year, now all you need to do is hit the books!
